Priceless?

I was just on facebook & was looking a one of my "friends" pages. Under his groups, I saw something funny. The first group he was a part of was called, "1,000,000 Christians praying for president Obama." The second group was, "One million americans against Barack Obama." It was awesome.

Last weekend was pretty nice. I worked monday tuesday wednesday & then basically had the rest of the week off. That didn't mean there was less work than normal, I just didn't finish as much as I would've. That is why we have next week.

This Thanksgiving was different. My family signed up for the 10th annual Sparks Turkey Trot. Jessica & Baby Todd signed up for the 2 mile walk & I did the 6.2 mile run. The race was at 8:30 so we arrived at 8. It was pretty cold still so I felt bad for baby todd, but she did pretty ok. Turns out we had to wait a little longer than expected for the race to start. In the meantime we were standing in the crowd with Brint & Shawn (my running partners) & someone was extremely gassy. It wasn't me, I was sure of that. The only other fun part of waiting was watching the overachievers warm up. There were in their tank tops & butt shorts jogging back & forth on the side. Sorry Matt, they were dudes. The race eventually started & we were off. I'd never run a race at this distance. I did a 5.1 leg in a relay & then did the Sheel's 5k a month or so ago. The training really paid off. Most of the race was enjoyable. About 4 miles in, I realized that the next 2.2 wouldn't be as fun as the first 4. Shawn busted out the random candy & I popped one in. I don't know if it helped but I was worried that I'd choke on the everlasting gobstopper. At mile 5 we decided to do our walk break & try to finish strong to get under the 60 minute mark. The last .6 mile was horrible. I tried to pick it up & about 10 seconds after I did, my chest got pretty tight so I slowed back down. I finished at 59:03. I'm was happy with the time & I felt good after the race. It was a good start to Thanksgiving. And to top it off, the sweatshirt wasn't half as gay as Shawn thought it would be.

A couple race highlights:
1- Hearing Brint & Shawn comment on the "retards" wearing the smoking stickers on their shirts. The sticker was two stick people. 1 smoking & the other not with the caption, "I didn't ask for this."
2- About 3.8 miles in there was a chick on the side of the road. She had just finished puking. It was pretty awesome.
3- I recognized people I hadn't seen in years. People I had classes with in college. My kindergarten crush (I was also in kindergarten at the time, this is not a current event).

We went over to Aric & Trista's. Coffee with creamy Bailey's & a delicious breakfast burrito with ketchup. For some reason, the ketchup part grossed Aric out. Weird. Ended up going back home to cook my turkey. My 2nd annual turkey turned out great. I have a new recipe that I will modify again next year. Tasty.
Finished off the day at Louie & Joni's with the Harders & my parents. Matty got called into work...gay. Jay was sick or something so no Carmonas. It was still good & fun. Lots of deliciousness, especially the desserts- yay Jami & Jessica. Next.
